What Causes Glasses to Fog Up?![]()
Fogging occurs when warm, moist air cools and the water vapor in the air condenses into droplets, a process known as condensation.
The fogging of glasses when wearing a mask is due to this condensation. Warm, moisture-laden breath escapes through gaps in the mask and condenses on the surface of the lenses, causing them to fog up. Similarly, eating hot food or riding a crowded train can also cause glasses to fog up due to temperature differences and high humidity.
The fine droplets of condensation on the lens surface scatter light, making the lenses appear white and foggy.
How to
Prevent Glasses from Fogging
-
Seal the Gaps in the Mask
Use mask nose pads or other accessories to close the gaps at the top of the mask. This helps prevent breath from escaping and reduces lens fogging.
-
Use Anti-Fog Spray or Gel
Apply an anti-fog spray or gel directly to the lenses and wipe it off to create a coating that prevents fogging by reducing water droplets.
-
Opt for Anti-Fog Coated Lenses
Choose lenses with a special anti-fog coating. These lenses are designed to prevent fogging without the need for additional maintenance.

Highly Recommended for Mask and Glasses Use
OWNDAYS Anti-Fog Coating is especially recommended for those who use both masks and glasses. This coating features a special treatment that makes the lenses less prone to fogging, maintaining a clear view. Unlike traditional water-repellent coatings that repel moisture, our coating works by integrating moisture into a film on the lens surface to reduce fogging.
Additionally, using the included specialized glasses cloth for maintenance will help prolong the anti-fog effect.

FAQFrequently Asked Questionsabout Anti-Fog
How Long Does the Anti-Fog Coating Last?
The anti-fog coating typically lasts about 1 to 2 years.
The effectiveness may diminish over time depending on usage and wear. However, using the included specialized glasses cloth for maintenance can help prolong the anti-fog effect.
Which is Better: Anti-Fog Spray or Gel?
Spray Type: Ideal for applying anti-fog treatment evenly across the entire lens, reducing the likelihood of uneven coverage.
Gel Type: While it doesn't splash and can be applied precisely, it requires a bit more technique to apply evenly. Once applied, it provides long-lasting protection, making it especially suitable for those who wear glasses for extended periods.
How Long Do Anti-Fog Spray and Gel Last?
Spray Type: Typically lasts for about 1 day,
depending on usage conditions.
Gel Type: Generally lasts for about 2 to 3 days,
depending on usage and application.
What Should I Use to Wipe Anti-Fog Glasses?
It's recommended to use tissue paper or a clean, soft cloth. Avoid using microfiber cloths designed for cleaning glasses, as they may remove both dirt and anti-fog coating, potentially reducing its effectiveness.
Are Anti-Fog Lenses Completely Fog-Free?
Anti-fog lenses are designed to be less prone to fogging, but they are not entirely fog-proof. In extreme conditions or if the lens is not in optimal condition, water droplets may still form on the surface, causing fogging. If left unattended, these droplets can leave water marks on the lens.
After Wiping Off Water Droplets, Please finish by wiping the lenses with the included specialized glasses cloth.
Lens Care Instructions and Precautions
- Unlike standard lenses, commercial lens cleaners may reduce the effectiveness of the anti-fog coating and are not highly recommended.
- Handle with Care: The lens design makes them prone to scratches. After rinsing, gently pat the lenses to absorb moisture rather than rubbing.
- Immediate Drying: Do not leave moisture on the lenses for long periods. Wipe off the water droplets immediately.
- Avoid Wet Materials: Do not use wet handkerchiefs, tissues, or cloths to clean the lenses.
